LYMPH MASSAGE
Welcome to experience and learn more about lymphatic massage, an effective treatment performed by our lymphatic therapist Erika! Here you will discover the benefits of lymphatic massage, what it means and how it can help you achieve optimal health and well-being.
What is lymphatic massage? Lymphatic massage is a manual therapeutic technique that aims to stimulate the lymphatic system in the body. This system is responsible for transporting away excess fluid, waste products and toxins from the body, while strengthening the immune system. By using specific massage strokes and movements, the lymphatic therapist promotes lymph flow, which can result in a variety of health benefits.

Benefits of lymphatic massage
Reduced Swelling: Lymphatic massage can help reduce swelling and edema by improving lymph flow and removing excess fluid from the tissues.
Relaxation and stress reduction: Lymphatic massage has a calming effect on the nervous system and can help reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation and improve sleep.
Increased circulation: By stimulating the lymphatic system and improving lymph flow, lymphatic massage can help increase blood circulation in the body, promoting oxygen and nutrient supply to tissues and organs.
Improved immune function: The lymphatic system is an important part of the immune system, and lymphatic massage can help strengthen the immune system by increasing lymphocytes (white blood cells) and improving their function.
Improved skin quality: Lymphatic massage can help improve skin quality by stimulating collagen production and increasing oxygen and nutrient supply to skin cells.

Causes of sluggish lymph flow
An inertia in the lymph flow means that the lymphatic system cannot get rid of fluid and waste products optimally. The reasons why you are affected can be, for example, hormonal fluctuations, blood sugar fluctuations, long-term stress, sitting still or tight clothing.
This in turn can lead to scarring, which can further aggravate the problem. When you talk about scars as a lymph massager, you are not only referring to those caused by wounds, but also ones that you might not perceive as scars when you look at them.
It can be about marks from old blows, falling, syringes, insect stings or stinging nettles. They can look like a line, a fold, a pit or a dot. Many people walk around with dimples or scars on their arms and legs that they think are cellulite, but instead it can be “a scar” that can be removed by activating the lymphatic system.
Symptoms of a sluggish lymph flow
Fibrosis is often formed below the “scars”, a type of scar tissue that has arisen in the fatty tissue when connective tissue, skin and waste products have grown together due to a sluggish lymphatic system. It can hurt and feel tender to the touch.
In addition to dimples and folds in the skin, additional symptoms of a sluggish lymph flow can be swelling, stiffness, fatigue and a feeling of heaviness. You may also experience pain or aching pain.
Some pain can be massaged away
What many people think is a fold of skin or fat they have on their waist or hip may be such a “scar”, an adhesion between skin and connective tissue. The connective tissue tightens around the scars and then you can experience diffuse pain in the body.
When you dissolve around the “scar” and the lymph flow starts, the body can look quite different afterwards. A lymphatic therapist’s job is to loosen the scars so that there is fluidity again. Fluid in the body presses on the nerves and when the flow works again, the pain decreases or stops.
If you get rid of your pain, you also feel much better overall. Becoming softer and more flexible in the body is valuable for general well-being. There are a lot of people who walk around with body aches when they don’t need it.
Lymphatic massage as a supplement for weight loss
A sluggish lymphatic system can also be one of the reasons why you gain weight or fail to lose weight. The excess fluid that accumulates when the lymph flow does not work optimally is said to cause the fat cells to grow. If you have a sluggish lymphatic system, the fluid gets stuck in the body and eventually turns into fat. You can do everything right when it comes to exercise and diet, but if the lymphatic system does not function optimally, you still gain weight. If you create a better lymph flow with lymphatic massage and self-care, you can therefore lose some of the excess weight.
Can be effective in burns and after breast cancer
Lymphatic massage can be helpful for burns because the skin becomes softer and the scars are loosened. Even breast cancer patients who have had lymph nodes removed can benefit from lymphatic massage.
Treatment plan and results
How many treatments are required depends entirely on what you want to achieve and how much trouble you have had before. But you should not go more often than every other day. This is because the body then does not have time. If you feel unwell, it may be a sign that you have had treatments too often. At the beginning of a lymphatic journey, it can be beneficial to go 3-5 times with about a week between the times, to experience how it should feel so that you know what you are aiming for.
Many feel a positive difference in the body immediately after a lymphatic massage. You can feel lighter, softer and have less pain. A common effect of the massage is that you shiver when the body gets going. If you are warm, you have a good lymph flow and if you are cold, you have little left to work on.
It is important to have drunk plenty of water beforehand, otherwise you may experience cramps in, for example, your feet and legs. If you have drunk properly, you will instead feel how it bubbles in your legs and feel the lymph flow during the lymph massage. The better lymph flow you have since before, the more you feel it.
