THINGS TO THINK ABOUT AFTER THE TREATMENT

After laser, some may become red and slightly swollen. A cooling Aloe Vera cream may then feel good. Avoid scratching/tearing the skin if it is irritated. Avoid anything that can generate heat such as warm or hot showers, saunas or exercise for 48 hours. Also avoid swimming in a pool during this time. If you should have a skin reaction with irritation and itching due to heat, take an antihistamine tablet (over the counter at a pharmacy).

One to two weeks after the treatment, the hair will start to fall out, not all the hair but a lot of it. 3-4 weeks after the treatment, you should notice that the hair that eventually grows back is usually thinner, softer and grows more slowly.

Sometimes it can happen that the hairs “get stuck” under the skin and do not want to come out. They appear as small black dots. If this happens, we recommend that you gently exfoliate the area with a mechanical salt scrub (available for purchase at the clinic).

After a laser treatment, it is important to protect treated body parts from the sun and use a high sun protection factor. This applies especially in the first 3-4 weeks after treatment. Immediately after a treatment, you can otherwise live as usual.

It is okay to shave between your laser treatments. However, it may be good to wait a few weeks to avoid irritating the skin unnecessarily. If you want to shave on beard growth, be a little extra careful in the first two weeks when the hair is pushed out of the hair follicle and it is easy for the razor to “snag” and it is easier to cut yourself.

Sometimes you can get some spots after the laser, usually because you have not followed the guidelines we have listed above. On light skin, they can be a little red and on darker skin they can look dark/black. These disappear after a few weeks, sometimes a little longer, but they do disappear. On dark skin, they can in some cases stay much longer, 6-9 months. In some exceptional cases, occasional water blisters are seen that disappear spontaneously within 48 hours. For more information about possible side effects, read the section on risks further down the page.

NEXT APPOINTMENT

Hair grows in phases and how often you should go for treatment depends on where on the body you want to laser.

The beard line can be treated every 2 weeks if you want, but we recommend 4-5 weeks apart.

The entire beard growth is treated every 4-5 weeks.

The face, armpits (armpits) and intimate areas are treated every 4-5 weeks.

The rest of the body such as arms, legs, stomach, back, etc. are treated every 8-10 weeks.

When you have achieved your basic result, which is individual (often 6-10 times), you will need to do “touchups” to maintain the result. Then you only book a treatment when and if new hair has appeared. Some may need to come after 9 months or a year while some may wait both 2 and up to 5-6 years or not need it at all. It all depends on hormones and genetic conditions/factors.
